About the project

ZyDisk turns remote servers and object storage into ordinary drives on your Mac. Open, edit and save files on an SFTP server or an S3 bucket in Finder, VS Code or Terminal, as if they were on your own disk.

It uses the proven rclone engine and macOS's built-in NFS client, so it needs no macFUSE, no kernel extensions and no lowered security settings on Apple Silicon.

Highlights

  • SFTP/SSH, FTP, FTPS and S3-compatible storage (AWS S3, Cloudflare R2, MinIO, Wasabi, Backblaze B2)
  • Drives appear under /Volumes like a USB disk
  • A one-time background helper, then no more password prompts when connecting or ejecting
  • Passwords in the macOS Keychain, sensitive actions confirmed with Touch ID
  • Removes the `._` and `.DS_Store` files macOS leaves on servers
  • Recovers within seconds if the engine stops; pending uploads finish before a drive is released
  • Live upload queue and speed, launch at login, menu bar controls
